Plain language summary: RideBelize collects only the data needed to match riders with drivers, process payments, and keep everyone safe. We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
1Information We Collect
When you use RideBelize, we collect:
- Account Information: Your name, phone number, and profile photo when you register.
- Location Data: Your pickup and drop-off locations during a ride. Background location is only used when a ride is active.
- Trip Data: Origin, destination, distance, duration, fare, and payment method.
- Identity Documents: Police report and government-issued ID uploaded during signup for verification purposes only.
- Vehicle Information (Drivers): Vehicle make, model, year, plate, insurance, and inspection certificate.
- Device Information: Device model, OS version, app version, and unique device identifiers.
- Communications: In-app messages between riders and drivers, and support communications.
2How We Use Your Information
- Match riders with available verified drivers across Belize
- Calculate and display accurate fare estimates in BZD
- Process payments via DigiWallet or record cash transactions
- Verify driver identity, documents, and vehicle inspection status
- Enable in-app communication between riders and drivers
- Provide customer support and resolve disputes
- Improve app performance, safety, and reliability
- Send important service updates and safety notifications via SMS
- Comply with laws and regulations in Belize and the United States
3Location Data
- Riders: Location accessed only when you open the app to book a ride. Stops when your ride is complete.
- Drivers: Location accessed while you are online and accepting rides. Go offline at any time to stop sharing.
- Storage: We store pickup and drop-off coordinates of completed trips for billing, safety, and support. We do not store your continuous location history.
We never sell your location data to advertisers, marketers, or any third party.
4Payment Information
RideBelize supports two payment methods:
- DigiWallet: Payments processed directly through DigiWallet (digiwallet.bz). We never see or store your DigiWallet PIN or account credentials. DigiWallet's own privacy policy governs their handling of your financial data.
- Cash: For cash payments, we only record the trip fare amount. No financial credentials are collected.
5Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share limited data only in these situations:
- Between Rider and Driver: Your first name, profile photo, and pickup location are shared with your matched driver during an active ride only.
- Service Providers: Trusted third-party providers for hosting, push notifications, and analytics — contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: If required by Belizean or US law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
- Emergency Situations: Relevant trip data may be shared with Belize emergency services (911) if a user reports an emergency.
6Data Security
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between the app and our servers
- Encrypted storage for all personally identifiable information
- Access controls limiting which staff can access user data
- Regular security reviews of our systems and infrastructure

7Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Portability: Request your trip history in a readable format
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time

8Children's Privacy
RideBelize is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
9Changes to This Policy
When we make material changes, we will send an SMS notification to all registered users and update the Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of RideBelize after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
